Greetings to you all. Many thanks from the staff and students at Bradbury School for a wonderful year. There is so much that happens here at Bradbury that would not be possible without your ongoing support and encouragement.

Congratulations to all of our Year 6 students who have graduated this week and will move on to secondary school. I am proud of the outstanding students you have become and wish each one of you every success in your future endeavours.

We farewell two members of our teaching staff:

Mrs Pamela Roper who is retiring and Mrs Wei Wang who moves on to a new teaching position. Thank you both for your contributions over the years to Bradbury School and all the very best in your new life adventures.

Farewell also to the following support staff members: Mica Rasborn (currently teaching in Year 2), Anisha Mulchand, Jane Low, Linda Bradley, Hamish Campbell, Steve Penman and Hugh Doherty. It has been great having you all on the Bradbury team and good luck on your next steps!

A temporary farewell to Steve Bemet who is taking one year’s leave in order to be nearer his daughter while she attends ballet school in Melbourne.

Farewell also to the families who leave us. Thank you for being a part of the Bradbury School Community and I wish you all the very best.

I hope your summer break is refreshing and relaxing and I look forward to welcoming you back on the 19 August 2010.

P.E. NEWS
It’s theend of what’s been another extremely busy year of sport at Bradbury School. You will find a sign up sheet for the Term 1 extra curricular activities below and an overview for the extra curricular activities for the academic year. This is to enable you to plan which evenings you would like your child to attend school based activities. I know we have some very talented sports people out there, so please remember that school teams are picked from children who attend these extra curricular activities. If you would like your child to represent the school then please sign them up to the relevant activities.

This week we had the Year 5 have their rounders tournament at Happy Valley. It was a great success and the children had a great time showing off their skills in an open space. Unfortunately the Year 3 Tennis tournament at the Hong Kong Tennis Centre was rained off, but we were able to host the tournament inside here at school. Although the children were initially disappointed at not getting to go to the tennis centre, they quickly embraced the idea of having it here at school. It was fabulous event which showcased not only the children’s tennis skills, but also their competitiveness!

The Year 6 basketball tournament here at school was also hampered by the weather, but we were able to re-jig the tournament and run it indoors. As with the other tournaments, it was a great success. The children really enjoyed their last tournament at Bradbury School and the staff were very happy being in the air-conditioning!

Our biathletes had their final race of the year last Saturday at KGV. We had some good results despite a number of the team pulling out at the last minute. Our top team finished 7th out of 25. But the best result of the day was that Yehudi Chan finished 1st in a time of 7 minutes 59 seconds. Congratulations Yehudi!

Well done to all the children on their achievements in P.E. this year. It has been great to see the heightened levels of enthusiasm, participation and skill levels across the entire P.E. curriculum.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE WAS A MIS PRINT IN THE LAST NEWSLETTER. RUGBY IS FOR YEARS 3-6 AND NOT YEARS 4-6 AS WAS STATED IN THE PREVIOUS NEWSLETTER.

CLASS PARENTS

I want to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your support this year with Bradbury's School Communication Tree, especially the Class Parents and Link Parents.  Thankfully we did not have any school closures and the tree was not used very much, however, next academic year is not that far away and we have to anticipate typhoon and rain storm warnings at the beginning of the first term.

Please find below the new Communication Tree for the academic year 2010-2011.  As you will notice, we still have some vacancies and welcome you to volunteer for these much needed and well appreciated positions.
