Dear All,

Greetings to you all! Our new playground has been a great success and all students have enjoyed time on it.

Many thanks to 4B and 4M for their wonderful assembly presentation. At Bradbury, we consider our assemblies part of our reporting to parents process. To this end, you are always welcome to attend assemblies.

BATTLE OF THE BOOKS COMPETITION
A group of children from Years 5 and 6 traveled to Quarry Bay School on Wednesday to compete in the Battle of the Books Competition. The students were fantastic ambassadors for our school; very friendly, they worked well as a team and showed great sportsmanship throughout the entire competition.   I am please to say the Bradbury has won the semi- final and will compete in the Battle of the Books finale on Tuesday, May 18th. Good Luck Bradbury and congratulations to the team for their outstanding effort.

P.E. NEWS

Last week we saw the end of the Year 6 rugby unit with a fantastic tournament at Happy Valley. This week we had the final lessons of the Year 5 tennis unit at the Hong Kong tennis centre and the Year 3 T-Ball unit at Happy Valley. Next Tuesday we mark the final lesson of the Year 4 basketball unit with a tournament here at school. Well done to all the students on the hard work they have put into these units to improve their skills. Special thanks also go to the teachers and coaches; coach Kenji and coach Chi from ESF educational services and Steve Jones from the Hong Kong Rugby Union. Their expertise has been invaluable during the delivery of the lessons.

Year 6 have already started their basketball unit and Year 3 their tennis unit. Both these units are supported by the coaches from ESF educational services. Year 5 start their rounders unit with their class teachers next week. We look forward to watching the children’s skills develop as they progress through these units.

Even though we still have lots of exciting events to come in the P.E. calendar this year I am already looking ahead and planning for next year. I have secured the services of our team of superb coaches to come in and work alongside the teachers with the students again. This has proved to be a highly successful way of developing enthusiasm, skills and knowledge of a variety of games in our students. This has been recognized by the P.T.A. who have offered to fund the cost of the coaches for P.E. and swimming lessons next academic year. This is fantastic news and will greatly reduce the parental contributions that you have all been paying to support this initiative.

Our after school activities for this term are well underway. We have lots of fixtures coming up for cricket, biathlon, netball, swimming and rounders. Please remember to return all invites to events whether or not your child can attend. This is important so I can confirm who is available and invite other children to make up the team if your child is not able to attend.

Congratulations to the hockey team that represented Bradbury School at last Friday’s interschool hockey tournament. Our team was one of the youngest and smallest in the tournament. They finished fourth in their pool, narrowly missing out on a place in the play offs. Well done!

I am organizing a stock of swimming kit and towels to loan out to children who forget their kit on swimming days. If you have any old towels or swimming kit that your children have grown out of it would be greatly appreciated if you could send it in to school.
