BRADBURY NEWSLETTER-2 MARCH 2018

Dear Bradbury School Community,

A warm welcome back to school after a longer break than anticipated!  Thank you for all the support of your child’s learning over this time – in speaking with our students it was very evident that many of them walked through the learning tasks set by school.

Because of the school closure, we had to postpone our Chinese New Year celebrations until Monday 5 March.  Our Lion Dance is at 1.15 PM and you are welcome to attend.  The Chinese Department has organised  a day of celebration and you are also welcome to attend.  The schedule is as follows:

9:00 AM – 12:30 PM
Chinese New Year Celebrations

1:15 PM
Lion Dance

If you have been up to school recently, you would have seen that painting has started on the exterior of the building.  Attached is a picture of the colours suggested by us to ESF.  I wanted something contemporary, clean and fresh – with as little white as possible, given how quickly this can discolour and look very grubby very quickly.

Sandra Webster
Principal

My Quest
Hong Kong Young Writer’s Awards entry by Rosie Lee, Year 4

I want to travel,

To the west,

And see the birds,

Making their nests.

I want to travel,

In the starry night sky,

And see my village,

From up so high.

I will travel,

On a plane,

With Sophia, Chloe,

And Elaine.

While Belle is a tiger,

Sophia ‘s a cat,

And Chloe’s an eagle,

Who will help me with a bat.

This is Isabella,

She’s my human friend,

Who came along with me,

And really likes to pretend.

Now I start to travel,

It’s really fun.

But now it’s hot,

Under the sizzling sun.

I reach my destination,

And find what there is to find.

I realize it’s good and made a living,

And there’s nobody there who’s unkind.

We are living fine,

We are living great.

And I’m so happy,

Because I’ve found a mate.

Bradbury School Action Day
By Carol Farrington, Action Leader & Amanda Bremner, PYP Leader

To celebrate the Action that students have been initiating and taking part in, our Action Day this year will partly involve packing toiletries to make up hygiene kits for some of Hong Kong’s poorest people.

The collection is going quite well, but we are quite long way off from reaching our goal of 3,000 kits.  We’re also running a competition with a prize for the class who collects the most items.

So how’s the collection going?  As of February 2nd, the total from the year groups are:

Year 1—612 Year 4—1,284
Year 2—1,453 Year 5—1,065
Year 3—1,222 Year 6—32

Well done Year 2!

KEEP COLLECTING…
